Schoolcraft Sweeps Doubleheader Against MUAC

WINTER GARDENS, FL - The Ocelots kept their spring trip rolling with a doubleheader against region XII foe, Marian University's Ancilla College.

Game 1- Schoolcraft got on the board in the top of the second inning after Ben Cannon tripled, scoring one run, Dominic Westfall was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Braylon Schroeder singled, scoring two runs.

Schoolcraft Ocelots scored 11 runs on two hits in the top of the third inning. Colin Sclater drew a walk, scoring one run, Owen Elsey doubled, scoring two runs, Dylan Ford induced Westfall to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, an error scored two runs, Brandon Troy drew a walk, scoring one run, Cannon drew a walk, scoring one run, Sclater drew a walk, scoring one run, Elsey drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

The Ocelots scored nine runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Nate Sullivan drew a walk, scoring one run, Dalton Vance singled, scoring one run, Noah McCann singled, scoring one run, Austin Flohre singled, scoring one run, Abel Gutierrez doubled, scoring two runs, Diego Bermudez drew a walk, scoring one run, Traevyn Shoaf induced Kayvon Justice to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Sullivan doubled, scoring one run.

Nick Bosilkovski earned the win for Schoolcraft Ocelots. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking none. Cameron Brewer started on the bump for Schoolcraft for his first career outing. The righty allowed five hits and three runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. Simon Shimel threw one inning of zero-run ball for Schoolcraft Ocelots in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

Schoolcraft Ocelots accumulated 14 hits in the game. Vance led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Elsey collected two hits in two at bats. Sclater led Schoolcraft Ocelots with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 16 walks for the game. Schoolcraft was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. 

Game 2-

Schoolcraft got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nick Bosilkovski tripled down the right field line, Kayvon Justice walked, and Marian U. Ancilla Chargers committed an error, each scoring one run.

Dominic Westfall earned the win for Schoolcraft Ocelots. The right-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and one run over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Colin Sclater and Diego Bermudez each appeared in relief for Schoolcraft Ocelots.

Bosilkovski provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Schoolcraft Ocelots with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Justice and Issander Vega each stole multiple bases for Schoolcraft Ocelots. Schoolcraft Ocelots stole seven bases in the game. Schoolcraft Ocelots were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Shane Carnes had the most chances in the field with nine.

Schoolcraft returns to the diamond tomorrow to face off against another MCCAA and Region XII opponent in Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The 2 teams will square off at 3:00PM at Chain of Lakes Park.
