Elsey and Westfall Pace The Offense To A Conference Win

DETROIT, MI – The Ocelots opened the 2025 MCCAA season by hosting St. Clair County Community College for a 9-inning contest.

The bats got going early for the Ocelots, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after 3 innings of play. In the 1st inning, a Braylon Schroder single would bring home the first run of the game then Dominic Westfall would follow up with a single and Hander Patino would draw a bases loaded walk to bring home the 3rd run of the 1st inning. 2 more runs would be plated in the 2nd off an error and a hit by pitch before singles from Owen Elsey and Noah McCann would plate another 2 runs in the 3rd. Schoolcraft would be held off the board until the 7th inning when Schroeder would lace a double down the left field line to bring home what would be the game winning run. Colin Sclater would single in an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th to push the lead to 2.

Alex Stepaniak got the start for the Ocelots on the mound logging 6 innings, 4 strike outs while allowing 3 runs but all 3 would be unearned. Lucas Clune would follow Stepaniak and not have the same success but would provide a quality inning and a third, striking out 2, paving the way for Nick Bosilkovski to come in and earn the save. Bosilkovski would go 1.2 innings without allowing a baserunner and striking out 1.

At the plate, Schoolcraft would earn 14 hits in the game with Elsey and Westfall pacing the way with 3 hits each. McCann and Schroder would add 2 to the total while Kayvon Justice, Abel Gutierrez, Dalton Vance and Sclater would each register a knock.

Schoolcraft returns to the diamond on Thursday for another 9-inning conference game against the Henry Ford Hawks.
