Ocelots Go 1-3 to Open Season in Rockford

ROCKFORD, IL – The Ocelots volleyball team began their season in Rockford, Illinois with the OWT 2-year college opening weekend tournament.

The Ocelots left Rockford with a 1-3 record, beating their 0-4 start last year. Their trip began with a 3-0 loss against Milwaukee Area Technical College with set scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-20. Julia Lincourt led the Ocelots with 5 kills while Maya Pecovic and Breanna Diktarewicz led the team with 12 digs.

Following the loss to MATC, the Ocelots quickly rebounded with a 3-0 win over University of Wisconsin Whitewater- Rock County. With set scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-20, the Ocelots were led by Hayden Brose with 11 kills, closely followed by Lillian Ribbens with 10 kills. Brose would also lead with 7 digs while Lillian Kaczynski would lead with 18 assists.

The last day of the trip saw the Ocelots face off against Highland Community College and #6 Illinois Central College. Schoolcraft would fall 3-0 to Highland and 3-1 to Illinois Central College. Ribbens would lead with 10 kills and Pecovic would lead with 9 digs against Highland while Brose led with 10 kills and 10 digs against ICC.

The Ocelots return to the court on Tuesday, August 27, as they host a tri-match with Montcalm Community College and Kellogg Community College. The tri-match kicks off at 3:00 PM with the Ocelots squaring off against Montcalm followed by Montcalm and Kellogg at 5:00 PM and closed out by Schoolcraft against Kellogg at 7:00 PM. The tri-match will take place in the TrinityElite Sports Center on Schoolcraft's campus.
